Ailey Revealed: Family Matinees
Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater presents a season packed with premieres and new productions. The Family Matinee series performances are all followed by question-and-answer sessions with Ailey’s esteemed dancers.
Brand-new works include:
- Resident Choreographer Jamar Roberts’ Ode, which reflects on the beauty and fragility of life in a time of growing gun violence
- Darrell Grand Moultrie’s Ounce of Faith, an exuberant expression of what’s possible when a young person is encouraged to dream
- Donald Byrd’s Greenwood, which draws on Ailey’s theatrical roots and commitment to social justice.
Company premieres include Aszure Barton’s BUSK, Camille A. Brown’s City of Rain and, for the first time in Ailey’s history, two solos by Merce Cunningham.
