JK Rowling releases her previously unpublished children's book The Ickabog.

The book was written as a read-aloud to her children, and until recently relegated to attic storage. She has decided to release it for free as a gift to children in lockdown.

Written over a decade ago, the book is "a story about truth and the abuse of power." 

A chapter or more will be released on The Ickabog website, each weekday through early July.

Kids are encouraged to come up with the illustrations for the new book; each day a different chapter prompt will be shared as inspiration for drawings that Rowling hopes kids will share with her.
