First Saturdays for Families: Familiar Portraits

Sat Mar 7, 2020
10:00am to 12:00pm
4-12
FREE

Families are encouraged to draw their family members and friends, considering how the settings, vibrant colors, and objects incorporated in Jordan Casteel’s portraits express different moods and meanings, and ask one another, “What details do you want in your portrait?”

Jordan Casteel: Within Reach depicts the artist's friends and community members in informal and domestic settings.

New Museum First Saturdays for Families are free of charge. This program is designed and recommended for families with children between the ages of four and twelve years, and includes free New Museum admission for up to three adults per family. Children under eighteen are always admitted free.

No preregistration is required. Space is limited, and tickets are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Your entire party must be present; tickets will not be given to partial parties.
