Throughout the 1930s and 40s, Jamaican artist John Dunkley created nightscape paintings that tell complex stories of the nature, people, and scenes of his homeland. After a guided tour in the galleries, participants use special glow-in-the-dark materials to create their own mysterious “drawings in the dark.”

Families and Folk Art is held the first Saturday of every month. This program introduces children ages 4 to 12 and their accompanying adults to folk art through interactive discussion-based tours in the galleries followed by hands-on artmaking activities inspired by objects in the museum.

Museum admission is always free. Space is limited; registration required.
