Harvard's Peabody Museum moves its annual Día de los Muertos event online this year. Families are invited to share an afternoon of virtual community and joyful remembrance.

Attendees can write an online message of love, then watch a master craftsman create papel picado in Mexico, listen to traditional verses in English and Spanish, craft a cempasúchil flower for the departed, ask questions about ofrendas, and learn a Mexican folk dance.

Guests in the Boston area can join in an outdoor candle lighting at nightfall. Simply walk to the museum's illuminated front steps and join in lighting candles for Covid-19 victims and other loved ones. Handheld candles will be available. Social distancing precautions will be in effect.

The event begins at 3pm Eastern time. Advance registration is required.
