Celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the American Wing with the unveiling of newly reinstalled galleries, art-making, music, and cake!

Program highlights include:

Art-making, 1-3:30pm: Explore the distinctive drawings of Dakota artist Mary Sully and create your own inspired personality portraits with artist-teachers

Curator talk, 2 pm: Listen to a conversation about Winslow Homer’s The Gulf Stream between curator Stephanie Herdrich and author Vinson Cunningham

Music and performance, 3pm: Enjoy live DJ sets by Justis Brokenrope, founder of Wathéča Records, and engage with Indigenous music in various genres, from rock and country to folk

Celebration, 3:30pm: Have a slice of cake in The American Wing Cafe in celebration of the wing’s centennial, with closing remarks from Sylvia Yount, Lawrence A Fleischman Curator in Charge of the American Wing
