Scandinavian Music Festival in Fort Tryon Park

Now in its 20th year, NY Scandia Symphony treats Washington Heights and Inwood to outdoor music programs in Fort Tryon Park. Bring a blanket and enjoy these free performances with views of the Hudson River as the backdrop.
The concerts take place on Billings Lawn, below the Heather Gardens
Programs:
June 9th, 2024, 2pm: SCANDIA BRASS QUINTET perform their special repertoire of popular folk tunes and brass quintets, representing compositions from all of the five Scandinavian countries.
June 11th, 2024, 6pm: In a program titled Sunset Concert the SCANDIA STRING QUARTET performs beautiful string quartets by Scandinavian composers.
June 16th, 2024, 2pm: A Concerto Program is performed by the SCANDIA STRING ORCHESTRA in a concert including three solo concertos, each representing the Baroque era, the19th century Romantic era and the contemporary era:
- Johan Helmich Roman: Flute Concerto - Lisa Hansen, Flute
- Jean Sibelius: Suite for Violin and Strings – Mayuki Fukuhara, Violin
- Frank Foerster: Suite of Scandinavian Folk Melodies for Viola and Strings – Frank Foerster, Viola
