In honor of Memorial Day, Intrepid visitors are invited to explore various displays, activities, and demos from the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, and even some antique military vehicles.

Programming concludes on Monday with the museum's annual Memorial Day Ceremony, which is also being live-streamed.

Doors open at 7:30pm
Watch a movie on the ship’s flight deck, under the stars, while enjoying views of the Hudson River and city skyline! This year, Memorial Day weekend kicks off with a screening of Forrest Gump (PG-13).

Military Assets and Activities on Pier 86: Saturday, May 29, and Sunday, May 30
10am-5pm
U.S. Coast Guard | Location: Pier 86
USCG Cutter Penobscot Bay docks at the Intrepid Museum’s Pier 86. Members of the U.S. Coast Guard are on hand to answer questions about the cutter, a 140-foot Bay-class icebreaking tug. (Not open for public tours.) The tug remains on display through Monday, May 31. USCGC Penobscot Bay is the seventh of nine United States Coast Guard 140-foot Bay-class icebreaking tugs. The primary missions of Penobscot Bay and her crew are Domestic Icebreaking and Ports, Waterways, & Coastal Security. During the winter months, Penobscot Bay is responsible for providing search and rescue capabilities to the ice-covered areas in New York City and the Hudson Valley, as well as throughout coastal New England.

U.S. Marine Corps | Location: Pier 86 The U.S. Marine Corps is onsite with vehicles, gear, equipment, and more! Visitors can train like a Marine with a variety of demos and activities.

Restored and Antique Military Vehicles | Location: Pier 86
The Military Transport Association is on hand with restored and antique military vehicles.

Memorial Day Ceremony: Monday, May 31
Livestream begins at 11am
The Museum hosts its annual Memorial Day ceremony with special guest speakers, the unfurling of a 100-ft American flag, and a wreath-laying ceremony. In accordance with health and safety considerations, this year’s in-person ceremony is not open to the public.
