The Brooklyn Children’s Museum and Brooklyn-based Asase Yaa Cultural Arts Foundation present their 15th annual Kwanzaa celebration! Explore Kwanzaa’s seven principles throughout the week with vibrant performances, workshops, art projects, and celebratory cuisine each day.

Monday, 12/26: NEW ORLEANS
On the first day of Celebrate Kwanzaa, "travel" to 1960s New Orleans to discover the rich traditions of the Creole people. Featuring music by a jazz band quartet, Lindy Hop dance classes and performances, child-accessible theatrical readings of Maya Angelou's biography, and more.

Tuesday, 12/27: CHARLESTON
On the second day of Celebrate Kwanzaa, "travel" to Charleston of the 1960s to discover how the Gullah people inspired Kwanzaa as we know it today. Featuring music by a steelpan band, hip hop dance classes, how-to cooking demos of Southern collard greens, child-accessible theatrical readings of Amiri Baraka's biography, and more.

Wednesday, 12/28: NASHVILLE
On the third day of Celebrate Kwanzaa, "travel" to Nashville for music by the Brooklyn United Marching Band, jazz dance classes, how-to cooking demos of Nashville hot chicken, and child-accessible theatrical readings of Lorraine Hansberry's biography.

Thursday, 12/29: ATLANTA
On the fourth day of Celebrate Kwanzaa, a"travel" to Atlanta for music by a string quartet, Dunham dance classes, how-to cooking demos of Georgia peach cobbler, and child-accessible theatrical readings of James Baldwin's biography.

Friday,12/30: HARLEM
On the fifth and final day of Celebrate Kwanzaa, "travel" to Harlem of the 1960s for music by the Asase Yaa Youth Ensemble, step dance classes, and child-accessible theatrical readings of Gwendolyn Brooks' biography.
