Classes take place both outdoors (weather permitting) and indoors. All classes are hands-on, exploratory, and include a related activity.
One parent or guardian must remain with child(ren) at all times, this is not a drop-off program.
January 12: Wasps, dissecting and examining abandoned nests
February 9: Edible insects, benefits and history
March 9: Silkworms and metamorphosis
April 6: Honeybees, including a visit to the farm's apiary
May 4: Garden guardians, focus on ladybugs and aphids
June 8: Exploring lesser known pollinators and camouflage
July 13: Monarchs, milkweed, and clothespin butterflies
August 3: Cicadas and their connection to trees
September 14: Lanternflies, catching and observing them, invasive species, truths and misconceptions
October 5: Spiders (not insects but still “bugs”), how webs work, importance as predators
November 2: Pill bugs (not insects but still “bugs”), defense mechanisms, decomposers, oceanic origins
December 7: Bagworms (the caterpillar stage of moths)
