The International Preschools opens a window to the world for young children and their families. IPS offers  preschool programs for children ages 2 - 5 and the IPS Playgroup, a non-separation program for children under 2.

The International Preschools (IPS) is a not-for-profit preschool located on the Upper East Side of Manhattan. 

Since its founding in 1963, IPS has strived to provide the best educational experience for young learners while embracing the diversity of the city and world. IPS follows a play-based learning philosophy. Through their play, young children are immersed in their learning. Its teachers facilitate this learning with carefully thought out materials and activities that are developmentally appropriate. Children learn early literacy and early math skills experientially, as well as social-emotional learning. IPS provides a nurturing environment for children to explore and face challenges as they become lifelong learners.

The teaching staff is highly trained, diverse, and experienced. IPS is a member of the New York State Association of Independent Schools (NYSAIS), the Independent Schools Admissions Association of Greater New York (ISAAGNY) and The Parent’s League.  IPS is proud that its students regularly score in the highest percentiles in academic testing. The Director and on-going schools advisor work extensively with families to assure student placement at top public and private schools.

Parents are a vital part of our community, and are encouraged to share their family’s traditions and customs, participate in social events and fundraising activities, and become involved in parent education programs.
