The New Jersey Renaissance Faire
The 11th Annual New Jersey Renaissance Faire is an event of epic proportions. This season follows Will Scarlett, nephew of Robin Hood (he will be there too, with Maid Marion), pursued by the Sheriff of Nottingham, and defended by the Merry Men and Women of Sherwood Forest.
The story begins each morning at 10am, continuing through Joust contest, Human Chess match, and 8 hours of interactive entertainment including Sword Fighting, Fire Breathing, Aerialists, Comedy and Music entertainment on seven stages.
In its eleventh glorious season, the renowned family-friendly festival also features a wide variety of gourmet food (including the ever popular “dragon legs”), along with local craft beers and Valenzano wines courtesy of the South Jersey Celtic Society Meade Garden. There is also extensive shopping in the eclectic Merchant Village of 60+ fine artisans, including historical glass blowing, blacksmith forge, and other fine crafts, trinkets, and handmade period clothing.
Special attractions include Scottish Highland Games (first weekend), the incomparable Shelli Buttons, musical maestros the Righteous Blackguards, the dapper Jacques ze Whipper, and the swashbuckling Lords of Adventure. But what the NJ Renaissance Faire is internationally known for, is the ability to make your family a become part of the show, as soon as you walk through the castle gates.
