Historic New Bridge Landing

Start off the holiday season at Historic New Bridge Landing as the Bergen County Historical Society celebrates Sinterklaas Day.

All three 18th century Jersey Dutch sandstone houses will be open for tours through out the day. The Blackhorse Inn will also be open where visitors may purchase refreshments and visit the gift shop for that unique holiday gift.

Throughout the day BCHS past president Deborah Powell will be in the Steuben House signing copies of the new book The Bridge That Saved a Nation, Bergen County, New Bridge, and the Hackensack Valley that she co-wrote with the late historian Kevin Wright. Copies of the book will be available for purchase as well. All royalties benefit BCHS.

At 2 pm in the Campbell-Christie House BCHS volunteer Ariel Woll will be giving a Hanukkah presentation. She will demonstrate how the menorah is lit and will explain more about the history, traditions, and customs of the holiday.

Be sure to stop by the Demarest House for a visit and a photo with Sinterklaas.

The society's authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen will be open with interpreters cooking seasonal 18th century recipes on the open hearth.

Pinecone bird feeder and ornament making will be available for children throughout the afternoon.

Ticket reservations for the 36th Annual Colonial Christmas Concerts featuring Linda Russell and Companie will also be on sale.

Free parking available on site. Dogs are permitted on the grounds (not in the houses).
