This year’s Archaeology Day features two talks that delve into the archaeology of the Pinelands to discover its prehistoric and colonial history.

Guests can explore the Museum’s archaeology collections during gallery walks with curators, and watch a short film about archaeology at Raritan Landing, a once bustling shipping port that was located along the Raritan River in what is now Piscataway.

11:40   Dr. Richard Viet, Monmouth University, “The Archaeology of the Pinelands Heritage at the Cedar Bridge Tavern”

1:00 – 1:40 “Raritan Landing:  A Road to the Past” A short film on archaeology in New Jersey (in the A Much Moved People gallery)

2:00 pm   Much Moved Peoples gallery walk, Assistant Curator of Archaeology Karen Flinn

3:00 pm   New Jersey’s Original Peoples gallery walk, Curator of Archaeology Dr. Gregory Lattanzi
