Current Broadway Lion King cast member Marlaina Sims Powell teaches a performance-based musical theater class for boys and girls. Students sing pieces from the standard musical theater repertoire as well as learn the basic vocabulary of theater and theater songs.

Students work on:

  • Learning songs from various ages of musical theater in both long form and in shorter audition format.
  • Analyzing lyrics so the musical components of the song complement the text.
  • Breathing and relaxation techniques to help with singing.
