Brigid's Day/Candlemas
Come celebrate Brigid's Day and Candlemas with the Bergen County Historical Society at Historic New Bridge Landing.
Sit in the main room of the 268-year-old Steuben House and listen to the harmonious vocals of The Racket River Girls at 1:30 pm and 3:30 pm as they play Irish music on the fiddle, guitar, concertina, and more. A new exhibit featuring BCHS's collections of New Netherland and Jersey-Dutch artifacts will also be on display in the Steuben House.
All three 18th century Jersey Dutch sandstone houses are open for tours throughout the day with knowledgeable interpreters who will share stories about the lives of earlier Bergen residents. Be sure to stop by the tavern for some seasonal refreshments or peek at the treasures in the gift shop. Don't forget to visit the society's authentic Jersey Dutch out-kitchen where interpreters will be demonstrating the 18th century craft of candle making using authentic materials.
Free parking available on site. Dogs are permitted on the grounds (not in the houses).
