Silents Under the Stars
- see all dates
The tradition of classic silent films screening under the stars with live musical accompaniment continues in the Santa Monica Mountains.
Harold Lloyd is in Hot Water in August's film when his mother-in-law accompanies Lloyd and his wife on a drive in their new automobile.
Note: Paramount Ranch currently has limited access due to construction, so the 37th edition of “Silents Under the Stars” takes place at the nearby King Gillette Ranch
The ranch encompasses the former home of director Clarence Brown (1890-1987); the first film being shown this year was directed by Brown.
July 21: Flesh and the Devil (Greta Garbo and John Gilbert) Showtime is 8pm
August 18: Hot Water (Harold Lloyd and Jobyna Ralston) Showtime is 7:30pm
Both films feature live music composed spontaneously by Michael D. Mortilla.
Tickets are free with seating available first come first serve. All are welcome to bring their own preferred camping chair.
Guided walking tours of the grounds begin at 6:30pm. The Visitor Center remains open until 7:30pm.
Picnics welcome. Bring a flashlight.
