Kidspace Día de los Muertos
- see all dates
Kidspace's Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) festivities are a celebration of life.
The program includes live cultural performances, art projects, and a community ofrenda where families can share memories of people and pets who have enriched their lives.
Kids can meet a fantastical alebrije puppet created by Kidspace artist-in-residence Ricky Chavez, and make a puppet of their own in the Imagination Workshop.
There is also an opportunity to create a postcard in memory of a loved one and add it to the ofrenda or take it home.
The Día de los Muertos celebration includes live cultural music and dance throughout the weekend, beginning Friday, November 1 during the Free First Friday evening.
Performance schedule:
Friday: YANKUITITL Aztec dance; 5:30pm & 7pm
Saturday: Técnica Arte y Folklore dance; 11:15am & 1:15pm.
Sunday: Las Colibrí all-female mariachi ensemble, 11:15am & 1:15pm.
