Día de los Muertos at Hollywood Forever
The annual Día de los Muertos event at Los Angeles’s oldest memorial park is the nation's largest Day of the Dead event, celebrating the memories of loved ones with ceremonial tributes and extravagant altar creations amidst some of the city's most famous departed.
In 2024, the celebration returns as a single daylong event is made memorable with music, dance, and exotic costumes and decor throughout the park.
Guests can enjoy traditional indigenous dance and cultural performers, altars, art exhibitions, a children's stage, and culinary vendors. Featured performers include Pedro Fernández, Los Lobos, Reyna Tropical, Ambar Lucid, El Santo Golpe, and Tania Libertad.
This year's event steps into the mystical word of Tonas and Nahuales - spiritual guides and guardians central to indigenous Mesoamerican cultures.
Indigenous Mesoamerican cultures believe each person, at birth, acquires a tona, an animal to which they are spiritually bound – with a shared destiny and common traits. Nahuales are spiritual guardians in animal form and yet some powerful and magical humans could shapeshift in and out of their nahuale or animal form – especially at night.
2024's event takes inspiration – and guidance – from the Zapotec’s rich artistic tradition of intricately carved and patterned Tonas and Nahuales, with pieces from some of the most famed workshops of Oaxaca on exhibit.
Please note: In recent years "Día de los Muertos” and “Noche de los Muertos” were presented as two separately ticketed events. This year there is only one event which runs all-day. Tickets have timed entry windows starting as early as 10am. Guests may stay past their entry window. The event ends at midnight.
Children 5 and up require a ticket. No pets, food, or alcohol may be brought onto the grounds.
