Newport Bay Conservancy hosts free community days on the last Sunday of the month.  Events are held open house style: guests are invited to visit Shellmaker Island, home to the Back Bay Science Center, anytime between 10am and 2pm.

Guests can tour the facility, including Shellmaker trail, teaching lab, aquatic lab, and touch tanks, and learn about the Back Bay Science Center's Educational Programs and how to get more involved.

The Native Plant Nursery is open to tour and to participate in seed collection, sowing, and weeding activities. Public Animal Feeding occurs between 12pm and 1pm.
