Annual Malibu Chili Cook-Off
- see all dates
UPDATE: Please note: there is no Malibu Chili Cook-Off for 2025.
The Malibu Chili Cook-Off, a much-loved Malibu community tradition, returns for another Labor Day weekend. The annual fest features carnival rides, food, music, a skateboard competition, a showcase of local artisans, and, of course, lots and lots of chili!
Families can indulge in award-winning chili as Chefs battle it out for culinary supremacy. Chili is available on-site all weekend long, with both meat and vegan varieties available. Chili pricing varies based upon vendor. Pricing generally ranges from $2 for a tasting to $14 for a bowl.
The Town & Country Lounge offers refreshing alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages for adults 21 and up, with featured DJ sets plus two–step and line–dancing lessons on Sunday.
Local pros do their thing at the Skateboard Mini-Ramp; guests can show-off their tricks, and learn from coaches! Free skate is available all weekend long. The 5th annual Johnny Strange Legacy Skate Competition is held on Saturday at 3pm.
The festival also includes a range of Carnival Rides (list TBA); wristbands available for purchase.
Event hours:
Friday 4pm - 10pm
Saturday and Sunday 1pm - 10pm
Monday 1pm - 8pm
Event Admission tickets are required for entry (children 5 & under are free). Tickets are NOT sold on site; guests must pre-purchase online. Carnival ride passes/tickets sold separately.
Parking is $20 - $60 via cash only. Ride share is HIGHLY suggested due to limited parking. Ride Share drop off is at the Malibu Library, (23525 Civic Center Way).
