The Shinnecock tribe's powwow has been an annual event on the East End since 1946. The 1,300-member tribe hosts as many as 100 other tribes with traditional dance and drum performances, native arts and crafts, sunset fire lighting and more. Beginning at 3pm on Friday with their first Grand Entry of dancers from all over the Americas at 7pm. Each day they host competitive dancing, guest entertainment, prayers, ceremonial dances, the acknowledgement of sponsors and visiting dignitaries. Grand Entry re-occurs each preceding day at 12:30pm and 7pm with the exception of Monday. They will conclude Monday evening at 6pm with the awarding of prizes to our competing drums and dancers. They will also host 100 Native American arts, crafts and food vendors from all over the Americas. Cultural enrichment and the opportunity for cultural education abounds as Native American representatives from every region are available to demonstrate and share their stories to all who ask.

Rain or shine.
