Opening day at the rink is November 1, but the grand opening community celebration that kicks off the 13th season of ICE at Santa Monica takes place the evening of November 7. The annual evening of free skating also includes an ice show, DJ, crafts, and snacks.

The show, crafts, and skating are all free. Local restaurants offer free tasting booths, and food is also available for purchase.
