Garden Grove marks Memorial Day weekend for the 61st year with its Strawberry Festival - the second largest city festival in the West.

The festival's parade steps off on Saturday (10am).

Other events at the festival include loads of carnival rides, a Tiny Tots King & Queen Contest, live music, a baby beauty pageant, a red-head round-up, and Friday's cutting of the world's largest strawberry shortcake (6pm) which is served free to more than 2,000 attendees. Ride-all-day wristbands cost $30 on Friday and $35 the rest of the weekend.

All proceeds go to children's charities. The festival is held at the Village Green between Main Street and Euclid Avenue in downtown Garden Grove.
