National Trails Day with Memorial Park Conservancy
Lace up your shoes and take a hike during National Trails Day at Memorial Park! There are 30 miles of trails in the Park for hiking, biking, and exploring.
Love to HIKE? Memorial Park's Conservancy team will be leading groups on the South Side trails between 9am-11am. You can learn about the ecology of the Park, what makes Memorial Park unique, and the Conservation work going on. If you want to explore on your own, stop by to pick up a trail map or a self-guided scavenger hunt for kids.
Love to VOLUNTEER? There will be trail volunteer projects in conjunction with Greater Houston Off-Road Biking Association (GHORBA). Meet at the event site and go out in groups to help the Conservancy in their efforts to maintain the trails. Exact times to be announced.
Love to BIKE? REI will be onsite offering free tune-ups to bikers throughout the event and mini sessions on how to change a bike tire and fix a flat. Feel free to stop by before or after your ride in the Park.
Want to CELEBRATE? Come and hang out! Between 9am-1pm, meet the team from Axis Earth, Inc. who connect outdoors and fitness-loving people; grab some delicious food from Snap Kitchen Memorial Park; or pick up a granola bar (or 2!) courtesy of Nature Valley, a nationwide sponsor of National Trails Day! And from 11am-1pm, enjoy a beer from Southern Star Brewing Company and get some frozen custard from Shake Shack. And if you want to hang out for lunch in the Park, the Ice and Fire Food Truck will be stationed near by selling yummy eats.
Park at the ballfields or Picnic Loop and meet us in Picnic Area 1 - You won't miss the tents!
