National Day of Play at Brazos River Park
September 20 marks the National Day of Play—a time to recognize the joy, resilience, and connection that play brings to children, families, and communities. In moments of crisis—big or small—play offers children a powerful way to process, heal, and simply be kids again. To celebrate this important day, families are invited to Brazos River Park in Sugar Land for a morning of child-led, open-ended play.
This free, community event will feature:
-
Big Blue Blocks from Imagination Playground
-
Loose parts play and creative materials
-
Coloring stations
-
Complimentary snacks and drinks
All ages are welcome, and no registration is required.
Donations will be accepted to support future play days, especially for families impacted by the July 4 floods in Kerr County.

Come out, bring the kids, and celebrate the power of play with the community!
