MFAH's Fall Festival: Myths and Leyendas: Mujeres
The MFAH hosts an action-packed family festival celebrating women in myths, legends, and Latin American history. The annual Fall Festival features six new, temporary large-scale sculptures by Houston Latinx artists. “Myths and Leyendas: Mujeres” highlights the Museum’s commitment to Latin American and Latino art, and art of the Indigenous Americas.
This year’s festival includes food, live music, and dance performances on the Brown Foundation, Inc. Plaza. Play a Lotería game with cards featuring MFAH works of art, see short films from the Houston Latino Film Festival, and join in art-making activities. Wander through Cullen Sculpture Garden to discover the works by Laura Lopez Cano, Angela Corson, Pedro Gutierrez-Zamora, Sandra de la Rosa, Jasmine Zelaya, and the trio of Victoria Armenta, Salima Bowaniya, and Bailey Serrano.
Plan Your Visit
Tickets are free to the Museum and the festival activities, thanks to the generosity of H-E-B.
Advance tickets are encouraged. On the day of the festival, free tickets are available at each festival entry and any Museum admission desk. The same ticket provides free access to both the festival and Museum.
Visitors can explore the galleries to see works of art represented in the lotería game plus all of the art on view, which spans 5,000 years and six continents.
Entrance to the festival opens at 12:30 pm and the activities begin at 1 pm.
