Hands-On Houston: Recycled Materials Glasses at the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft
Join resident artist Ian Gerson in crafting a unique pair of funky glasses using recycled materials at this free, kid-friendly drop-in event.
Learn how Ian weaves intricate patterns from discarded items and try your hand at giving new life to neglected materials by designing a pair of eyewear out of recycled items. This experience will challenge you to reimagine the creative potential of discarded objects. How will wearing these unconventional spectacles change your perception of waste?
HANDS-ON HOUSTON is a free drop-in event held on the first Saturday of every month. Each month, a teaching artist demonstrates a craft related to the current exhibitions. Families and children of all ages are welcome to come any time between 11 AM and 3 PM and participate in a 15 – 20-minute activity. Materials are provided. This program supports HCCC’s mission to advance education about the process, product, and history of craft. Learn more here.
