Boots, Beaks & Breakfast: A World Migratory Bird Day Celebration!
Join Audubon Greenwich and Skip The Straw Greenwich for a celebration honoring World Migratory Bird Day! Across the globe bird lovers will be celebrating the return of migratory birds and raising awareness of their importance on our planet.
Children and parents can join an outside walk at 9:15 a.m. followed by a special Live Raptor Show by Christine's Critters at 10 a.m. Wildlife Rehabilitator Christine Peyreigne will be bringing several live hawks, owls, falcons and even a Bald Eagle!
This year Audubon Greenwich is excited to partner with Skip The Straw Greenwich to promote World Migratory Bird Day's 2019 conservation theme of Preventing Plastic Pollution. For migratory birds, plastic debris poses a risk of both ingestion and entanglement, which can lead to illness, entrapment, and serious injury. It is estimated that 80% of seabirds and shorebirds have ingested plastic. Representatives from Skip The Straw will be present to tell you how you can Be the Solution to Plastic Pollution by reducing the amount of single use plastics we use each day and disposing of them correctly.
