It's a Winter Wonderland at the Noah Webster House during December break, with three fun-filled and affordable activity days for children 7-12. These are half-day sessions, make sure to pack a snack for campers.

Wednesday, December 27, 9 a.m. to noon Basket Weaving

Basket weaving is an ancient craft that uses naturally grown materials and a few very simple tools. Basket weaving is a great hobby and makes a great gift. Wednesday, December 27, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Make Bread Pudding & Ice Cream You will want to remember this recipe because you will be making it often! With just a few simple ingredients including chocolate, you will have a delicious colonial dessert to share.

Thursday, December 28 , 9 a.m. to noon Gingerbread House Workshop

If you missed our 11th annual gingerbread house workshop earlier this month, this is your chance to construct your own masterpiece using homemade gingerbread, fresh icing, and delicious candies. Thursday, December 28, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Dream Catcher Workshop Create and design your own Dream Catcher and learn its Native American history and uses. Taught by native West Hartford resident Stephanie Daley. Materials are provided. No experience necessary.

Friday, December 29, 9 a.m. to noon Hearth Cooking Workshop

A child’s favorite. Young cooks will use colonial recipes and cook over an open hearth the old-fashioned way! (space fills up quickly) Friday, December 29, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. New Years’ Eve Workshop Create a miniature New Year’s Eve Ball to drop at midnight while wearing the New Year’s hat that you made, and use the festive noisemaker to celebrate bringing in the New Year!

The program fee is $25 per child, per workshop, ($20 for museum members). Please pack your child a snack. Pre-registration is required. Call the Education Department at (860) 521-5362 ext.14. Bring a bagged lunch when registering kids for both sessions! Cancellation Policy Requests for refunds (minus a 10% processing fee) will be honored up to one (1) week before the start of the workshops. Full refunds will be given if the session is cancelled due to under enrollment.
