Editor's Pick:

In 1992, bald eagles returned to Connecticut for the first time in 42 years, with a lone pairing building a nest. Within a decade, there were eight pairs of eagles in the state and now guests routinely see as many as 10 eagles in a day.

The Shepaug Dam is a unique place to watch for eagles since the turbulence keeps the water from freezing, creating an ideal hunting spot for the birds.

Limited numbers of telescopes are available for loan. Visitors are invited to bring their own binoculars and long-range camera lenses. Dress for the weather.
