Stella Maris School
Stella Maris High School in Stamford is an independent, faithful Catholic school, founded and directed by the Disciples of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary. Stella Maris is a place where boys understand they were made not for comfort but for greatness. Manhood is not a matter of age but of formation. It is something a young man has to accomplish through challenge, effort, and virtue. Through great books and stories, and led by magnanimous teachers and mentors, our students grow in virtue and answer their call to love.
Stella Maris means “Star of the Sea.” Mary, the Mother of God, is the guiding star who leads us safely through the waters of life toward her Son. At Stella Maris, Mary holds a central place in the formation of our students. Her maternal presence teaches boys to respect themselves, to honor the dignity of women, and to understand that true strength is born of humility and service. Devotion to Mary is not merely a tradition, but a path toward becoming men who are fully alive. Under her guidance, each student learns to navigate life with confidence and faith, growing into a man who knows who he is, to whom he belongs, and the purpose for which he was created. Today, Stella Maris continues this mission across the world, with three thriving high schools and hundreds of students united by a shared vision of faith, excellence, and formation. In every campus, the same spirit enlivens classrooms and hallways: a deep conviction that education is not merely about knowledge, but about shaping men of virtue.
Stella Maris seeks to form men who are ready to lead, to serve, and to love — men of truth and virtue, prepared to build a civilization of faith and hope. Our college counselors and faculty team accompany each student and family with ongoing, individualized guidance — helping every young man discover his talents, grow in self-knowledge and confidence, and answer to his unique calling and vocation.
