Westport School of Music
Now celebrating its 82nd year of providing a top-quality music education for children, youth, adults, and students with special needs, the Westport School of Music is one of the oldest continuing nonprofit community music schools in the state. Teachers are graduates from some of the finest conservatories and universities in the country. They focus on student-centered learning, providing lessons for students ages five and above in classical piano, jazz piano, violin, viola, cello, string bass, flute, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, voice, and electric bass. A Saturday music therapy program called MUSICWORKS! offers one-to-one sessions with a board-certified music therapist for children and adults who have developmental delays, autism, or other disabilities. Students may participate in several annual performance opportunities such as special world-music workshops, student chamber music concerts, annual recitals, and performing for senior citizens in health care facilities.
