This non-ballet play is based on the short story written by E.T.A. Hoffman that inspire Tchaikovsky's score and ballet. In the story, 12-year-old Marie doesn't want to stop living in her imaginary world of toys despite the advice of her family. Little do they know, Marie's make-believe world is real.
