Seussical the musical
"OH THE THINKS YOU CAN THINK!"
Seussical the musical weaves together the story of Horton Hears a Who with some of Dr Seuss' most beloved characters - the Cat in the Hat, Mayzie LaBird, Gertrude McFuzz, Horton the Elephant, and the Sour Kangaroo, just to name a few.
This big, bold, bright, and imaginative musical will have you humming the songs for weeks. The lessons of Seussical are the lessons of Open Fields: treat everyone with kindness and respect, touch a life a day, if you have something kind to share, share it, and life isn't a dress rehearsal.
Seussical is perfect for the whole family! Run time approx 2 hours with intermission.
Horton the Elephant knows he heard a tiny voice on the small speck of dust he's protecting on a clover. In the spirit of "a person's a person no matter how small," he vows to protect that speck of dust and his new Who friend, Jojo. The Jungle of Nool citizens have other ideas! Led by the Sour Kangaroo and the Wickersham Brothers, the citizens of Nool believe Horton is the "biggest blame fool in the Jungle of Nool." Only Gertrude McFuzz believes him, but she can't get him to notice her beyond the clover in front of his trunk.
Meanwhile, on the tiniest planet in the sky called Who, Jojo is in trouble again for his "thinks." His parents, the Mayors of Whoville, worry endlessly about their son's wild imagination. Feeling "alone in the universe," Jojo hears Horton and the two connect over how wonderful it is to believe "anything's possible." Jojo is sent to General Schmitz's "green eggs and ham" military to help control his thinks.
Mayzie LaBird leaves Horton to sit on her nest while she "rests" (takes a 52-week vacation in Palm Beach), and Horton is stuck with an egg to protect. The Sour Kangaroo plots against Horton, and he loses the clover
Will Horton rescue the Whos? Will Gertrude get Horton to notice her? Will Mayzie ever return to her nest? Will the Sour Kangaroo leave Horton alone long enough to find his clover? Will Jojo survive the Battle of Butter? Join us for SEUSSICAL!
