Sunday, October 6, 2019 - 10:30am to 4:00pm
Event Info

The Cathedral of St. John the Divine welcomes animal lovers and their pets to the 35th annual Feast of Saint Francis festivities. The Procession of the Animals enter the church around noon, and then families can hit the post-service outdoor fair.

You can also grab a bite at one of the food trucks, line up on the Pulpit Green to have your creature companions blessed, have your face painted, or enjoy family-friendly entertainment on the main stage from 2-4pm.

The signature Cathedral service features the Missa Gaia (or Earth Mass), composed by Paul Winter and Paul Halley, bringing together the Paul Winter Consort and a mass choir of hundreds of voices, as well as modern and traditional West African dance by Forces of Nature—all in celebration of the beauty of the animal kingdom. The service concludes with the Procession of the Animals, a silent parade of creatures great and small down the Nave of the Cathedral.

"Day of" passes are distributed in the morning on a first come, first served basis. The line forms early - try to arrive before 8am. And note that all people who want passes must be in the line - you can't send dad out alone!
