The Magic of Storybook Animals: Art Exhibit Opening

Join the celebration of the opening of this fourth exhibition of original illustrations for children’s books focusing on animals in illustrated literature. Opening day festivities include live animals on the front lawn to greet visitors, art workshops, live music, and storytime with the illustrators themselves. 

Free Children's Art Workshops:

11:15am-12:45pm (Ages 6-9): Students will create along side children's book illustrator Milanka Reardon. Children will hear the true story about An Old Man and His Penguin: How Dindim made Joao Pereira de Souza an Honorary Penguin and learn the process of making a picture book, how to draw a Magellanic penguin, and do a craft. 

1:00pm-2:30pm (Ages 6-9): Students will create along side children's book illustrator Michael Garland. Children will explore the development in picture book characters and then try their hand creating their own unique book character.
