Halloweekend and Day of the Dead

Thu Oct 28, 2021

4 and up
Free with general admission

Celebrate both Halloween and Day of the Dead with assorted family activities. Decorate mini pumpkins with a creepy landscape or scene, join a costume parade, watch an alien planetarium show, make a Mexican marigold, decorate paper skulls, and learn about Victorian mourning practices.

Activities are timed, with different offerings on each day. Consult the museum website for the agenda to time your visit.

Day of the Dead, or Día de Muertos, is celebrated on November 1 and 2 in the southern regions of Mexico. November 1st is generally referred to as Día de los Inocentes, or Day of the Innocents, to honor the souls of departed children and infants. November 2nd is Día de Todos Santos, or All Souls Day, when families go to the cemetery to decorate the graves and tombs of their relatives.
