Brooklyn Contra hosts an evening of colonial era and modern folk dances to live music. All dances are taught and appropriate for adults and kids 8 and up, no experience necessary!

Contra is an easy-to-learn folk dance (similar to square dancing with some swing dance flair) that originated in northern Appalachia. Based on English and French formal dances, contra is now danced around the country by multi-generational communities. Bringing a partner isn't necessary as folks switch partners between each dance.
