Planetarium Show & Telescope Viewing
- see all dates
Public planetarium shows are offered by UCLA astronomy and astrophysics graduate students. Content varies with presenters but generally includes a discussion about the current night sky, constellations, and astronomical phenomena, as well as a look at the current sky, weather permitting.
On clear nights, visitors are invited to look through one of the department telescopes after the planetarium show, up on the 9th floor roof of the Mathematical Sciences building.
No tickets or reservations required; the shows are free and suitable for all ages that can sit for an hour-long show. No late arrivals are admitted. Planetarium shows start at 7pm during Standard Time, 8pm during Daylight Savings Time, and last 45-60 minutes (rain or shine).
(Note that the March 11th show is at 8pm PDT.)
Check out our list of observatory and planetarium events around LA for more opportunities to observe the night sky.
