JewCE: The Jewish Comics Experience Opening
- see all dates
Calling all caped crusaders! Join the Center for Jewish History for its new family-friendly exhibit and playspace, JewCE: The Jewish Comics Experience. JewCE is free and open to the public and explores the Jewish roots of comics, as well as Jewish themes in comics and Jewish representation in comics.
View a large collection of original artworks, rare historical artifacts, and interactive installations, connecting visitors of all backgrounds and ages with Jewish history, culture, and identity, as well as comic book lore, in a new and exciting way.
The laboratory features kid-friendly exercises in character creation, storyboarding, and iconography, teaching young creators the tools of the trade and how to write and draw, in or outside the box—literally and figuratively. They can even draw on the walls.
There's also a dress-up area, where your kids (and you--you know you want to) can create your own superheroes, engage in imaginative cosplay, and take pictures or GIFs to send yourselves.
On the weekend of November 11–12 is a comic con-style event at JewCE: The Jewish Comics Experience. It's packed with activities for the whole family, including workshops, panel discussions, a large artist alley, an exhibit hall filled with vendors, food trucks, and lots, lots more.See website to purchase tickets.
