LEGO Shipbuilding Contest
LEGO enthusiasts are invited to the Los Angeles Maritime Museum for its annual LEGO Shipbuilding Contest. Participants use their imaginations to build ships out of LEGO blocks supplied by the museum. The event is free, and builders of all ages and abilities are welcome.
There is no “home build” category. All models are built with museum-owned bricks at the museum. Builders may not bring loose bricks from home. Models built at home will not be accepted for judging or display.
Completed models are entered to win prizes in the following age categories: 3-5, 6-8, 9-13, and 14 years and above. If a group of builders works together on a model, the model is judged according to the age category of the oldest builder.
The building times are from 10am to 2pm, but particpants do not need to stay the entire time. Prizes are awarded after 3pm. Winners who are not present receive their prizes via US mail.
Please note that ships are built with Legos supplied by the museum and may not be taken home. All ships and Lego are the property of the museum.
