Train Festival (Camden, NJ)
The Camden Children’s Garden salutes a nostalgic favorite in a lively weekend event all about trains. The festival will feature the garden’s permanent G-Scale display and Arrow River 1/3-scale Train Ride. Kids can then have some hands on fun as they take part in train crafts, games and a reading of The Polar Express. Before you leave, take a stroll through the special section with train vendors and exhibitors and stop by the concession stand for snacks and even farm fresh produce. Apple Cidering (Chatham, NJ)
Nothing says autumn quite like some delicious apple cider so check out this much-loved tradition at the Great Swamp Outdoor Education Center. Take part in the hands-on process by helping to prepare the apples, grinding them, turning the old-fashioned press and collecting the cider. This engaging experience is topped off with a delicious sample of fresh, homemade cider! You will also learn some amazing facts about the apple’s place in history and in the natural world. All ages welcome. One hour session begins at 2pm on Saturday & Sunday. $3/Person.

Kids’ Hike and Campfire (Alpine, NJ)
Get outdoors this weekend and enjoy the last few days of mild weather! Head to the Alpine Picnic Area & Boat Basin for a guided children’s hike that will cover about 2 miles of relatively easy trails. The park’s ‘Trail Crew’ will be on hand to answer questions about the late autumn nature and to point out the beautiful sights. If you’ve got an appetite, stick around for the campfire after – s’mores are provided but feel free to bring your own snacks or even a picnic lunch. Sculpt a Turkey (Lincroft, NJ)
Gobble, gobble! If you can’t get enough of the bird this November, get crafty at Thompson Park this Saturday for their Sculpt a Turkey project. Start celebrating Thanksgiving a few weeks early as your group creates a clay turkey in the pottery studio. You and your child will learn some hand building techniques, paint and decorate your turkey, and have lots of fun. Stick around after your craft session and hike one of the park’s peaceful trails. Mother Goose Mash Up (Cherry Hill, NJ)
It’s Mother Goose like you’ve never witnessed it before! Mix together a dash of comical skits, a sprinkling of musical numbers, a heavy helping of improvisational interactive fun, and you’ve got a story-telling, song-selling mash-up of theatrical mayhem. And since you also get admission to the neighboring Garden State Discovery Museum, let the kids run off some pre (or post) theater energy and check out the neat exhibits such as Dinosaurium, Bubble Trouble or the Wildlife Area and Turtle Bog. Thanksgiving Harvest Home & Armistice Day (Morristown, NJ)
Step back in time and celebrate Thanksgiving and Armistice Day in 1918. Begin by following the enticing aromas to The Willows and Farmhouse kitchens where a Thanksgiving feast is being prepared. The whole family can roll up their sleeves to husk corn, saw the wood that is needed for winter heating and cooking and make animal food with the one-cylinder gasoline engine operation. Be sure to take a horse-drawn wagon ride around the farm, watch a side-saddle riding demonstration, visit the farm animals and even assist with egg collection! End the day before Veterans Day gathered outside The Willows, the Foster family home, for a special tribute to veterans. All ages welcome. 12-4pm. $6/Adult, $5/Seniors, $4/Child (4-16), $2/Child (2-3), Children under 2 are free.
