32nd Annual Loisaida Street Festival
The Loisaida Festival starts at 11am with a Carnival Parade featuring the work of Garbagia , an eco-urban recycled arts initiative that spent the last month creating instruments, flower masks, ‘vejigantes,’ paper mache animal masks, and other props—with an emphasis on recycled and found materials.
The best viewing spot is Avenue C and East 6th Street.
As always, the street level experience features an array of vendors with delicious homemade ethnic cuisine, community organizations distributing critical health and wellness information. The Festival's theme this year is Strong Roots, Healthy Branches: Harvesting Connections.
Among various Festival Zones - including arts and crafts, a wellness zone with an acupuncture clinic, and the Loisaida Center El Semillero initiative - is a new a kid-friendly S.T.E.A.M. Zone featuring popular festival mainstay, the BioBus .
