Presidents Day Weekend Things To Do in NYC: Sword Dance, Kids Week, Winterfest

The holiday weekend leads right into midwinter break, so it's game on for city kids and incidentally also the opening weekend for City/Game: Basketball in New York at the Museum of the City of New York. Beyond that, NYC is ready to entertain, educate, and dazzle kids of all ages with happenings like the Half Moon Sword Dance Fest, La Mama Kids' Folktales, TADA's How to Eat Like a Child, Winterfest in the Bronx, and a Native American Arts Fest in Queens.

Presidents get their due at Fraunces Tavern's Open House and Washington's Birthday Ball at the Mount Vernon Hotel Museum and Garden. You can even chat with past presidents at the New-York Historical Society.

Meanwhile, it's kids week at the Intrepid and in Bryant Park. The Brooklyn Botanic Garden's February Break Discovery Days, the New York Hall of Science's Engineering Week, and the opening of Superpowered Metropolis at the Children's Museum of Manhattan all serve as excellent kickoffs for the week ahead.

Remember, our Winter Fun Guide and February GoList are jam-packed resources heading into the week off. We've even got a list of FREE Things To Do Over February Break, and as if that's not enough, our event calendar grows by the day.
