Weekend Fun for Long Island Kids: Arcade Age, Craft Workshop, Family Sundays, January 9-10

The holidays might be over, but the family fun hasn't ended. Take your kids on a trip down memory lane with the Arcade Age interactive exhibit at The Cradle of Aviation. Step right up - no coins needed - and blast off to the past by playing childhood faves such as Space Invaders, Donkey Kong and more! And Family Sundays are back at the Nassau County Museum of Art, while Lego Clubs in Amityville and Bridgehampton are also being held this weekend for the little brick fan in your life.

Alice In WonderlandIslip. Live performance at the BayWay Arts Center.

The Arcade AgeGarden City. The Cradle of Aviation Museum is hosting this exhibit through April 3 each day. It has transformed a section of its galleries into an arcade complete with unforgettable favorites like Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga, Space Invaders, Centipede, Donkey Kong and more. Four daily sessions available (11:30, 1:30 and 3:30); your 90 minute free play timed-ticket for the Arcade Age exhibit also includes full access to the Cradle of Aviation galleries.

Craft Workshop: Turn Your Paper Trash Into TreasuresBridgehampton. At the South Fork Natural History Museum, bring whatever trash you have with you (or if you need some of these materials let them know and they’ll have them for you) and be prepared to make some amazing paper beads and some beautiful collages in this “turn-trash-to-treasures” workshop.

Kahlil Gibran's The ProphetHuntington. Family film at Cinema Arts Centre. Kids under age 12 are free.

CinderellaBellmore. At Le Play Cafe. Play time with Cinderella, Face Painting done by Cinderella, A story read by Cinderella, Pictures with Cinderella, Games and songs with Cinderella and A special cupcake to take home.

Shinnecock Craft WorkshopBridgehampton. CMEE will be hosting members of the Shinnecock Nation for a special drop-off workshop. In addition to learning about and celebrating the history and traditions of the tribe, kids attending this extended Saturday event will make medicine bags.

Sunday ScienceRockville Centre. At The Center for Science Teaching & Learning, Sunday Science is a new a drop-off program designed to further engage your child with scientific topics outside of the classroom.

Pirate Show with Captain Billy BonesGarden City. Live show at the Long Island Children's Museum. Youngsters of all ages have a little bit of pirate in them.  Like pirates, kids naturally yearn for adventure, independence and self-actualization--they love discovery, carousing and challenging authority.

LEGO Club at CMEEBridgehampton. At the Children's Museum of the East End, your child can construct works of art using the thousands of Legos they have at the Museum.

Family Sundays at the MuseumRoslyn. At the Nassau County Museum of Art, Family Sundays begin with exhibition-based gallery conversations. Families then go on to explore new art materials, vocabulary and ideas with a museum educator.

Build-a-BoatCold Spring Harbor. Be a shipbuilder at The Whaling Museum and Education Center. Adults and children can drop in between 1-4 today and design their own vessel out of wood.
