May is a pretty awesome month, with beautiful weather for festivals, parks and picnics. Celebrate that very special woman in your life with  a Mother & Daughter Tea at Acorn Hall or a laid back Mother’s Day hike at Tenafly Nature Center. You can also soak in even more spring with the Butterfly Festival at the Camden Children’s Garden or the Scavenger Hunt and Grill Out at the Great Swamp Outdoor Center. Beautiful Butterflies Festival (Camden, NJ)
From crawling caterpillars and fluttering butterflies to lovely local birds, celebrate the Camden Children’s Garden most beautiful and important inhabitants. Learn about the live butterflies inside the Philadelphia Eagles Four Seasons Butterfly House and celebrate the return of Monarchs from Mexico and the Mexican traditional holiday Cinco de Mayo. The weekend’s festivities also include crafts, a planting activity and colorful cultural celebrations. Saturday & Sunday 1-4pm. $6/Person, Children under 2 are free. 856-365-9741

Let's Get Curious! (Jersey City, NJ)
Letting curiosity and inquiry be their guides, your little guys can explore familiar buildings and locales from the “Curious George” books and television series on PBS KIDS in Curious George: Let’s Get Curious at the Liberty Science Center. The exhibit presents key concepts in science, math and engineering, which are woven throughout the exhibit. Try your hand at mini golf, climb up a space shuttle and slide down a steep slide or learn about wind energy from windmills. This is the last weekend for this awesome temporary exhibit, so check it out while you still can! Saturday & Sunday 9am-5:30pm. Included with museum admission. 201-200-1000

If You Give a Moose a Muffin (Hackettstown, NJ)
In this hilarious sequel to If You Give A Mouse A Cookie and If You Give A Pig A Pancake, a young boy entertains a gregarious moose by giving him a muffin. If a big hungry moose wants a muffin, he'll surely want some jam to go with it. So begins the comic complications of an adventure that will delight young audience members! All ages welcome. Great Swamp Scavenger Hunt (Morristown, NJ)
Calling all adventurers! Think you know a thing or two about New Jersey's Great Swamp? Then it's time to test your powers of navigation and observation at the Great Swamp Scavenger Hunt. The center will provide your family with a route to travel, questions to answer and a list of treasures to find throughout the 55-square mile watershed region. It's your job to navigate your own way, seek answers and return with all your scavenged booty at the end of the day! Stick around until the 4pm grill out for prizes and great food. All ages welcome to participate. 9am-6pm. FREE (donations are appreciated).

Mom's Day Pottery Workshop (Maplewood, NJ)
A little late with the gift this year? Take the kids to Express Yourself Studios the day before Mother’s Day and make a special pottery project for mom. A fun, creative outing and a gift to take home? It’s a win win! Pizza & beverages will keep everyone refreshed and energized. Recommended for ages 2 through 10. Sessions at 11am-1pm & 2-4pm. $35/Parent & child, $15/Each additional sibling.

Bari Koral Family Rock Band (South Orange, NJ)
The new “IT” girl on the family/kid music scene, Bari Koral is entertaining audiences with her catchy, pop friendly tunes and interactive live shows. Her current album, Anna and the Cupcakes, features 10 wonderful new songs for children (and children at heart!) that range stylistically from rock to blues to country.  Bari is also a movement specialist and will engage kids in a big way as she has them pretending to surf the waves, pop like popcorn and even run like gingerbread men. Catch her live performance this Saturday at the South Orange Performing Arts Center. Recommended for ages 3 & up. 11am. Ticket prices vary ($11-16/Person) depending on seat location.

Mother's Day Walk (Tenafly, NJ)
Looking for something to do on Sunday after breakfast with the family? Head to the popular Tenafly Nature Center for a peaceful Mother’s Day walk. Whether you’re an outdoors enthusiast or just hoping for a pretty photo op with the family, May is the perfect time to get outside for a stroll along one of the nature center’s tree-canopied trails. If you want to make a full day out of it, pack a picnic lunch and spread a blanket out after your hike for a little more family time. All ages welcome. 10am-12pm. FREE for members and moms. $5/Non-members.

Mother and Daughter Tea (Morristown, NJ)
Treat mom to something special and different this year with an elegant and fun tea at Acorn Hall. The beautiful Victorian Mansion is the perfect backdrop for mothers and daughters as they dress up and snack on tea and desserts. After tea time, take a tour of the historic hall or stroll the springtime gardens. All ages welcome. 1-4pm. $10/Adult, Children under 12 are free. 973-267-3465
