Pop-Up Outdoor Roller Rink Skates into Yonkers in August
For three weeks in late summer, a new outdoor roller rink is popping up at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers. Here’s everything you need to know to plan your first spin.
OUR LATEST VIDEOS
Situated in Center Court of the outdoor mall, the 1,400-square-foot rink will offer one-hour skating sessions for ages 5 and up from Saturday, August 17 through Monday, September 2 (Labor Day). The $10 admission fee includes complimentary skate rental (but if you’ve held onto yours since 1982, you’re welcome to use those instead).
Music will enhance the experience, as will occasional theme nights, such as '80s night, disco night, and teen night, among others. Rink hours are Monday–Saturday from noon–8pm, and Sunday from 1–6pm.
Every year, the Cross County Shopping Center presents assorted outdoor attractions as part of its SummerFest program of live events. The roller rink rounds out the lineup for 2019, the others being 4th of July fireworks, an outdoor summer concert series with food trucks, the interactive Story Pirate Theater, a hands-on Groundworks Hudson Valley Science Workshop, and the forthcoming Bash the Trash Musical Workshop.
Looking to augment your time at the mall? Grab a treat from Shake Shack, Häagen Dazs, or Cups frozen yogurt.
Below are some additional notes to help you plan your visit:
- In addition to the minimum age requirement, skaters must be at least 42" tall.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
- Waivers must be signed prior to skating.
- Payment may be made by credit/debit cards only; cash is not accepted.
- Parking is free.
