Visit a museum: The Children's Museum of the East End is an obvious fave, but there are plenty more options for kids of varying interests. The Long Island Science Center, Sag Harbor Whaling Museum and Railroad Museum of Long Island are just a few places kids will love.

Enjoy some sweet treats: What kid doesn't love ice cream? Cool off with a sundae, cone or shake at one of the area's ice cream parlors & shops.

Browse for toys: While you do risk having to splurge on some goodies for the kids, a visit to a local toy store is always a good time.

Bowl! My kids love to bowl--it's a great way for the entire family to have some indoor fun and get into the competitive spirit.

Take a dip: The East End has some beautiful public pools where families can cool off.

See a show: There is some great entertainment throughout the East End, including live theater geared towards the kiddies.

Say hi to the penguins: Head down to the Long Island Aquarium for some indoor (and outdoor) interaction with sea life.

Bounce around at Safari Adventure: Home to the the largest soft play unit of its kind on Long Island, kids can have hours of fun at this indoor play space.

Play in the water at Splish Splash: Kids of all ages--along with mom and dad--can take a dip in one of the wave pools, go on a few thrill rides and see a show at this popular LI park.

Hit the beach: There's nothing like the sand and surf, even on a hot day. Luckily, the East End is home to some of the most beautiful beaches around.
