The first year of a baby's life is full of such memorable firsts, and there's always something new to experience and explore. My family just experienced this for the third and final time, as our youngest recently turned one, and boy, did we try to do and see a lot.
From your baby's first dip of their tiny toes into the ocean–oops, we missed this one–to their first play cafe fun to a first barnyard adventure, there's almost too much to get done in that precious first year.
The photo-worthy moments we've listed below will be plentiful, so be sure to have your phone or camera ready for some great pictures. For more new parenting tips, check out our Baby Guide for New and Expecting Long Island Parents.

New Jersey sledding hills are cold, slippery, and ridiculously fun. NJ is home to plenty of perfect sledding hills for all ages, and we've compiled this list of 26 great sledding spots throughout the state. So, once the flakes have flown, it's time to break out your sleds, bundle up (helmets recommended!), and venture out to one of these great local sledding hills in New Jersey.
Don't forget the safety check! Take a minute to make sure your chosen sledding hill isn't too steep or bumpy for your child and that there's enough of a "landing" spot so your little sledder can safely glide to a halt. Avoid spots near ponds and trees, and be sure the sledding hill doesn't end in a street or parking lot. Skip rocky hills, too.

The whole "New York City is a terrible place to raise babies" argument never seems to die, but as a mom of three raised-in-NYC children, I disagree. Yes, it can be a nuisance to find subway stations with working elevators and contend with tiny spaces and noisy neighbors. Still, there are so many enriching experiences to share with your New York City baby that it's worth muddling through the inconveniences.
So, stock your diaper bag, strap your infant into a stroller or carrier, and enjoy some of these 30 things to do in NYC with your baby. Be sure to bookmark our NYC Baby Guide for all of our top tips and picks for making the most of NYC with a little one in tow.
